It is easy to think of a copper wire as a perfect element having no resistance. While we can often get away with this kind of thinking, thinking so will eventually bite you where you don’t want to get bitten. This becomes purpose driven when we begin to adopt computer simulation.
To that end, the more common parasitic elements of electric wire are enumerated here. Presenting these upfront makes accounting for them in a simulation model transparent.
- Shielded or non-shielded
- Electrical Properties
- Coefficient of resistance
- Capacitive Reactance
