Up until today, the WD8IEL Chelsea Repeater has been programmed to announce the time at one minute after the hour, hourly, from midnight to midnight. In addition, each day at midnight it announced todays day and date together with the time.
The midnight-only announcement remains unchanged. However, starting today the hourly announcement has been silenced from midnight to 6 AM daily. The first time announcement daily will be at 6:01 AM and the last at 11:01 PM.
Another change that was enacted a few days ago was how the hourly time announcement was configured. It was a station ID first followed by the time. We have reversed that. It is now time first and THEN a station ID. The reason for this is the incredible accuracy our controller has. The hourly time announcement is within -1 second (not plus or minus) of the precise time. The reason for the 1 second latency is that when the controller initiates an announcement, there is always a rougly 1 second or less delay.
