The Chelsea Amateur Radio Club will be giving a ham radio presentation to the Dexter Cub Scouts, Pack 477, on Saturday, October 15th at Hudson Mills Metropark on North Territorial Rd near Huron River Drive. At roughly 2 PM, we will explain ham radio to the Cubs and how they can get an Amateur Radio Operator’s license.
Part of our presentation will be to conduct 3rd party amateur radio communications. Cubs will be given opportunities to engage in 3rd party QSO operations with regional hams via the Chelsea Repeater (145.450 MHz, pl 100 Hz). This is scheduled to run between roughly 2:15 PM and 2:30 PM.
All licensed amateur radio operators in the western Washtenaw and eastern Jackson counties are encouraged to participate in this 3rd party operation. We ask that you contact either Jim Grissom (KD8RFW, JRGrissom7@gmail.com) or Wes Cardone (N8QM, n8qm@arrl.net) to let us know that you will be listening. Jim and I will no doubt be running test QSOs beforehand to validate who is available and listening.
