I recently acquired a fine quality VHF antenna having about 9 dB gain. See below my initial efforts at designing a tuning stub for it. Updated 4-18-2024 I recently discovered a YouTube video that shows how to cut an antenna’s feedline length to achieve resonance (See below). I then discovered that there are many such erroneous YouTube videos telling you that you can use “jumpers” to improve your antenna performance. There are no benefits to these practices! It was about two years ago that the EZNEC Antenna Modeling Software was made free. Wes Cardone (N8QM) purchased this software several years ago (before it was made free) and has found it extremely capable and says that it should not be considered as limited to those with extreme electromagnetics knowledge.
